I am a sociologist specializing in the study of immigrant experiences. My research, teaching, and writing focus on the migration and incorporation of immigrants from Latin America, with particular attention to the lives of children and the elderly. Using qualitative methodologies, I aim to capture the complex realities of immigrant communities.
I earned my Ph.D. and M.A. in Sociology from the University of Southern California. I have a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Chicano/a Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles and an AA degree from Long Beach City College. Currently, I serve as a professor at Arizona State University.
On this site, you can learn more about my scholarship, my teaching philosophy, and my philanthropic project that brings together repujado art, migration, and youth engagement.
Thank you for visiting, and I hope you enjoy exploring my work.
