Art for a Cause

Since I was a young student at Long Beach City College, I began making and selling art in repujado. I learned this art form in Mexico. It soon became a way of expressing my ethnic identity in the United States while also helping me cover some of my educational and familial expenses. Creating art in repujado has been an empowering artistic expression that I now share with my own students and the community through repujado art workshops and im/migration storytelling.

I am passionate about my art and the study of immigration as much as I am passionate about ensuring all students have an opportunity to fulfill their college dreams. I created a scholarship program, Art for a Cause, to support undocumented students as well as street-vending students pursuing their college dreams. ALL proceeds from my repujado sales go towards this scholarship program.

I invite you to support my Art for a Cause Scholarship Program by purchasing a repujado art piece. All pieces are unique and handmade. I have made custom pieces for organizations such as The Campaign for College Opportunity, the Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project, and the Extended Opportunity Programs and Services among others. I am proud to collaborate with these organizations and programs who also strive to advance and promote access to college education. My art has served to recognize the labor of community, civic, and education leaders across the United States.

If you or your organization would like to consider purchasing a piece as a gift or award, please complete the form below. I’ll follow up with some questions to make sure I create the perfect art piece for you.
